Green Bay vs Jacksonville 3rd quarter week 8

The defense of both sides have been strong in the third quarter and Green Bay continues to lead against Jacksonville

The Jacksonville defense has been very effective during the first part of the 3rd quarter and has been stripping the ball away, applying pressure to Aaron Rodgers forcing him to throw the ball away and keeping the Packers to short yardage. They are forced to punt and the Jaguars will get the ball back with decent field position.

During the second down Green Bay defense makes gets a sack for a big loss, and stops them from making the first down on the next play and Jacksonville are forced to punt.

Jacksonville defense steps up again and forces a 4th down play by the Packers. They appear to be going for a 55 yard field goal, then change it up and look like they are going to punt but instead run a pass play and blow it giving the Jaguars great field position at the the 37 yard line.

Unable to do anything with it another missed opportuinity for Jacksonville. Then a missed field goal by the Packers and the Jaguars will get another opportunity to get the lead back.

As the 3rd quarter winds down the Jaguars have their third straight 3 and out and the Packers get the ball back. The Packers have the ball at mid field and second down at the end of the quarter.

Green Bay Packers vs Jacksonville Jaguars Half Time

Green Bay Packers have the lead at half time in the week 8 game with Jacksonville Jaguars.

You gotta hand it to the defense for stopping the drive of Jacksonville and even more credit goes to the special teams play on the blocked kick which is then recovered in the end zone for a touchdown by the Packers. This extends their lead to 14 to 3 mid way in the second quarter.

The Jacksonville defense did their job good late in the 2nd quarter and keeps Green Bay from getting more points and has the ball and gets to mid field just before the 2 minute warning.

This drive by the Jaguars is likely the best they have had in the first half and they get a first down around the 10 yard line at the 2 minute warning giving them 4 downs and 2 minutes to score.

But the Packer defense is strong and the Jags had a missed opportunity and they take the field goal. Jacksonville may take a deficit of more than one touchdown in to the locker room.

Green Bay gets the ball back with 1 minute and 3 seconds on their last attempt before the half. On the first down the Jaguar defense is able to penetrate the offensive line and manage to turn the ball over and recover giving them another shot at scoring.

Jacksonville is able to score the touchdown and take the risk and go for the 2 point conversion. They do not conver the 2 points but they have reduced the Green Bay lead. The half time score is Jacksonville 12 to Green Bay 14.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Green Bay Packers 1st Quarter

Jacksonville first to score but Green Bay rebounds and has the lead by end of the first quarter in week 8 footbal game.

The Jacksonville Jaguars had the first possession but they failed to do anything with it and were sacked on 3rd down and were forced to kick it away.

Green Bay was unable to do much with their first possession either and they go 3 and out and have to punt.

A great run after a short pass to Justin Blackmon and the Jags get a first down. Even though they do not get into the end zone they do turn the drive into points with a 38 yard field goal. Jacksonville takes the early lead of 3 to 0 again Green Bay.

Green Bay is doing much better on this drive and Aaron Rodgers is carefully moving the ball down field with his receivers, short runs and even running himself when necessary. A first down on the 5 yard line and then a short pass into the end zone and the Packers take the lead at 7 to 3.

As the first quarter ends Jacksonville still has the ball and are down 3 to 7.

Buccaneers vs Vikings 4th Quarter week 8

Tampa Bay Buccaneers win game over Minnesota Vikings

A perfectly timed and well managed drive by the Buccaneers they control the ball and use a fair amount of time on the clock. It took 16 plays and 87 yards but they get into the end zone again and take the lead to 36 to 17. They go for the two points but do not get it and the score is 36 to 17.

The Vikings will have to convert each drive and also manage their time well since they need 3 scores. Well they don’t and the Bucs only have to manage the clock and not turn the ball over and they can sew the game up in short order.

Having the ball with only 4 minutes left in the football game and a 19 point lead it’s almost a no brainer. They eventually kick the ball back to the Vikings but with approximately 3 minutes left they really would need 2 miracles at this point.

With only a minute to go they throw an interception so we will likely see one play and a knee. The final score in the game Tampa 36 to 17 Minnesota.

It’s apparent the Tampa offense is quite a bit better then their win/loss numbers would have you believe. i never expected the Buc’s quarterback Josh Freeman to do as well in the air as he has tonight. If they can keep this up the next few weeks they will be doing much better in their division later in the season.

They take on Atlanta November 25th and although they may not be up to the caliber to take them on, they have a number of weeks yet to improve their game so no reason to count them out just yet in the division.

3rd Quarter Minnesota vs Tampa Bay week 8

Tampa Bay Buccaneers have 20 point lead in Football Game with Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota had a better 2nd quarter then the first but a few mistakes and dropped balls at key times game Tampa the ball back and they turned that into a 10 point half time lead.

Tampa has started this quarter being a bit more careful and going more for the higher percentage slants and short pass plays. Then 2 plays later they run a short screen pass to Doug Martin and get into the end zone again.

If the Viking offense can not get into their groove on this next possession I don’t think they can get the game back. But they do not and have to kick it away. They are in the hole by 17 points it’s 27 to 10.

Another field goal by Tampa and they have made it a 3 touchdown game and take a 20 point lead. It is now 30 to 10.

Great play by the Vikings and Adrian Peterson running back for Minnesota makes a great run and gets a 64 yard rushing touchdown. They get the extra point and the score is 17 to 30.

The Vikings defense must play like they did in the 2nd quarter now and force Tampa to turn the ball over.

I see Tampa mixing it up some and going back to short screens and slants and moving the ball short yards each down since it worked well for them in the first part of the 3rd quarter. The defense did well and kept Tampa from converting the 3rd down and Tampa punts.

Tampa got their second sack in the game and I don’t think they could have timed it better. They manage to hold off Minnesota off and they get the ball back with really good filed position with just under 4 minutes left in the quarter.

The defense is fired up and they stop Tampa again. Minnesota has the ball with a little over 2 minutes. Then on 3rd down they blow and a bad snap and the ball is loose. Vikings recover but it’s a missed opportunity and they have to kick the ball away with 1 minute left in the 3rd quarter.

The score at the end of the 3rd quarter is at 17 to 30.

Tampa Bay vs Minnesota week 8 At half Time

Tampa Bay takes a 10 point lead against Minnesota to the locker room at half time

Another field goal by the Buccaneers and Tampa now has a nice lead against the Vikings the score is 13 to 0.

Minnesota finally gets a decent play and on a screen pass Percy Harvin gets a first down, and on the next play Adrian Peterson gets a first down with a run. Then a face mask penalty and the Vikings are in the red zone. They absolutely must convert this into points and they really honestly need a touchdown.

And they convert it into a touchdown. I think this was really needed not only for the points but also to give a bit more confidence back to the Viking offense. This puts them back into the game and shaves the lead to a single touchdown. The score is 13 Tampa to Minnesota 7.

And on this drive the Minnesota steps up and stops Tampa and forces them to kick. The last 2 possessions were a lot more of what I was expecting to see. Minnesota must keep their momentum going forward on this drive and take a lead to the locker room at the half.

An impressive drive being turned in by the Vikings and then Peterson gets the ball again on a short pass and after he gets the first down spins on a second effort for extra yards and the ball is stripped away and he fumbles it and Tampa recovers. Great play by the Tampa defense.

The Tampa offense is doing a lot better then I ever thought they would. A few friends had tried to tell me that they were actually playing much better then their stats were showing and I now believe them. I had not had the opportunity to see them play yet this year since the few times they were playing when I could have seen them the game was blacked out in my area.

Tampa does well and scores on the drive and extends their lead to 20 to 7.

Minnesota has a nother good drive and is moving the ball well when all of a sudden Tampa gets a sack for a big loss. In fact that was the first time they had been sacked since September. But no problem on the next play Ponder hits Jerome Simpson wide receiver for Minnesota with a 33 yard pass and they get a first down and keep the drive alive.

They almost lose the ball on a 3rd down from an interception but the defender was out of bounds. Minnesota takes the field goal and it is a 10 point game again with a score of 20 Tampa to Minnesoita 10.

As the half is winding down Minnesota gets the ball back with 1 time out and 25 seconds. They can’t do anything with it and let the time expire and take the break. The half time score syands at 20 Tampa and 10 Minnesota.

Minnesota vs Tampa Bay week 8 1st Quarter

Tampa Bay Buccaneers have an early lead against the Minnesota Vikings

As the game gets underway I think it’s easy to see that we will be in for a pretty good game. A numer of analysts have said this will be a low scoring game although I am not so sure that will be the case.

Since the Bucs won the toss and chose to kick I think they made a good choice since the Vikings went 3 and out on their first possession.

Looking back over the last few weeks we have seen the Buc’s quarterback Josh Freeman improve his passing game. This may mean we will see the Bucs go to the air a lot more than they have been but I think we are more likely to see that more later in the game.

On the first possession by the Bucs the Vikings defense has kept Freeman on the move quite a bit the plays they tried some play action and force them to a 3 and out. Now that both teams have had a drive that didn’t get them anywhere it’s time for the real game to get underway I suspect.

Tampa defense did it’s job really well and held the Vikings to short yardage and crushed their 3rd down conversion and Minnesota to punt once again.

On second down running back Doug Martin breaks a cut and breaks a tackle and gets a 1st down with a 41 yard run. Then another pass play and another 1st down. Tampa is well within scoring distance on this drive and I think the Minnesota defense needed this to happen early in the game so they realize that the Bucs have the potential to make big plays in the air if they catch them not paying attention.

Even though the Bucs have done ok in the red zone they are kept from getting in the end zone and are forced to take a filed goal. This gives Tampa the first points up and the lead at 3 to 0.

Tampa defense has been pretty impressive with their man to man coverage so far and has kept the Viking receivers wrapped up very well and not giving Ponder an open man to deliver the ball to and Minnesota is forced to kick it away again. Since the ball was fumbled on the punt Tampa should consider themselves fortunate that they were able to recover it so it’s Tampa ball.

Another good pass play by the Bucs and they are in Viking territory again. This drive the Bucs get into the end zone and take a 10 point lead so far shutting the Vikings out and limiting their ability to score.

After 2 back to back first downs by the Vikings they are starting to show great progess and then they fumble the ball. This completely turns the game around from what I thought we would be seeing and the Bucs are within scoring distance again. As the first quarter is ending and the score is Tampa 10 to Minnesota 0.

Our Picks in Minnesota Vikings vs Tampa Bay Buccaneeers week 8

Why the Minnesota Vikings will win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneeers

A friend of mine over at The Pogg asked me to give my thought’s on the Tampa Bay game with the Minnesota Vikings tonight, Thursday October 25, 2012.

And he provided a link to his article Aramon’s pick here if you want to see what he had to say. Well I thank him for nudging me to sit down and take a closer look a few hours before the football game started.

You know since I actually live in Florida one might think that I would side with Tampa bay, but upon closer inspection I just can’t.

I think The Pogg’s article is correct in one aspect and that it will be a game that it played heavily on the ground. However, that is about where I will draw the line in the sand.

I really feel that Minnesota has a superior defense and I think they will be quite effective to stop Tampa’s run game and I also think they will do a pretty good job of throughout a good bit of the game.

Will they be able to stop it completely, probably not, but I think they will do a good job of controlling Tampa’s running backs Doug Martin and LeGarrette Blount.

Now Tampa has a decent record on the road and they have done well against the Vikings the last few years but I think tonight that record will change.

They are going to have to be a little careful that Tampa may try and fool them a bit and run some passing plays when they aren’t expecting it, but I think they will have that covered pretty well too.

Since I was once again put on the spot I made my picks and will stand by it. I am picking Minnesota Vikings over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by 4. At 7 pm I took a look at they had the Vikings as a 5 1/2 point favorite at Bet Online. Why Denver Broncos are favorites over New Orleans Saints

Denver Broncos are Favorite Picks to win the New Orleans Saints Football Game

The football game we chose for this week’s Offsides challenge is the New Orleans Saints and the Denver Broncos on Sunday October 28th, 2012. This is the game that kicks off at 8:20 pm.

I think we are in for a really great game actually. I think we will see a lot of passing on both sides and I wonder if we won’t see more yards passing in this game then we saw in the game on the 21st when there were over 700 yards in the air between the Saints and the Buccaneers.

I make no secret of the fact that I really enjoy watching a good quarterback work. And with the Denver Broncos we have a great quarterback. Peyton Manning is easily rated among the list of the best quarterbacks in the league. He works very well under pressure and doesn’t panic if he has to throw on the move.

He reads defenses very well and his offensive line has been doing a great job of protecting him and has been slowing down the blitz when their opponents have been trying.

I think Manning will have another really good game and if you look at the last few games has been hitting his receivers and I think he will be less hurried in Sunday’s game then he has so far this year.

And when Manning has wide receivers like Eric Decker, Demaryius Thomas or Brandon Stokley you know the big plays in the air can be made at any time.

Denver defense will make this game interesting

I think where we will see the game get very interesting is when the New England defense is on the field. New England has a number of potential big play makers such as the likes of outside linebacker Von Miller and the defensive ends Elvis Dumervil and Derek Wolfe.

I think they and the rest of their teammates on the defense will apply a lot of pressure to Drew Brees the Saints quarterback. They will have their work cut out for them since Brees is a veteran back in his 12th year and he has been averaging over 7 yards per completed pass.

If you look at some of the Saints past games you will see that if the defense was able to penetrate the line and keep Brees on the move, as well as tight coverage on their receivers they managed to hold them to shorter yards when needed and stop more of their 3rd down conversions. And I think the defense of the Broncos are more than capable and will do just that.

I think the Broncos defense will hit the Saints hard and fast from the beginning of the game and could easily completely take away any early game momentum that Brees will want to try to capitalize on.

Even if they get an early edge on Brees, they can’t let up since he is a veteran with an excellent reputation for not giving up easily. They will have to keep up that pressure at all times and try to keep him guessing and on the run.

And to be honest even if the books weren’t picking the Broncos as a favorite, I would probably be picking them this week anyway.

And don’t forget to read Frank Benjamin’s article over at OddsOnBetting Why the New Orleans Saints Will Cover the Spread as Underdogs (we apologize the NewsBetting site is no longer active)

Chicago Bears vs Detroit Lions week 7 final quarter

4th Quarter thoughts In Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions Football Game

A decent drive by the Bears and they are doing a fair job of moving the ball as well as eating up time on the clock but the Lions defense steps up again and the Bears do have to punt. The Lions defense has kept them in the game if their offense could just put some points up it would be a much closer game although it is still a 2 score game.

But they can’t do it and they must punt the ball again giving the Bears the ball at mid field with approximately 8 minutes left in the football game. More good defense and penetration by the Lions defense and force the Bears to punt again.

Using a fair amount of no huddle offense the Lions are showing a nice drive. And they get it to the 3 yard line and instead of scorint the Bears wrp them up and they are forced to go for it on 4th and goal. And on 4th down Matthew Stafford throws an interception.

The Detroit defense stops does their job well again and Detroit get the ball back with just over 2 minutes left in the game but have used all their time outs. At the two minute warning they have moved the ball to mid field and are down 13 points.

A handful of hurry up plays and a few decent passes and a few first downs and they end the possession with a touchdown.

The final score in the game is Chicago 13 to Detroit 7.
